Multi-currency without a clean audit trail
Handle FX properly — rate source, rate date, translation method — so the USD figure can be explained rather than just asserted.
United States · Florida · Miami
Multi-currency trade, property portfolios and hospitality reporting across borders. Some Miami clients want an Excel freelancer for one job; others need a consultant, a VBA developer or a data analyst over months. Both work the same way: hourly, remote, and documented at handover.

The local picture
Miami businesses are disproportionately cross-border, and that shows up in the spreadsheets. Revenue in one currency, costs in another, entities in three countries, and a reporting requirement that flattens it all into USD for a lender or an investor. Add a real estate or hospitality portfolio where each property is effectively its own business, and the consolidation problem gets ahead of the tooling quickly.
What we get hired for here
The engagement we see most often in South Florida is a property or entity roll-up. Each asset has its own workbook, maintained by whoever manages it, in whatever structure they prefer. The owner wants a portfolio view. The obvious approach — one giant consolidated file — fails within a quarter because the individual managers stop maintaining a format they did not choose. The approach that survives is a light standard input template plus a consolidation layer that tells you which properties have not reported yet.
Handle FX properly — rate source, rate date, translation method — so the USD figure can be explained rather than just asserted.
A light input standard people will actually follow, with a consolidation that reports missing submissions instead of silently under-counting.
Reporting that compares against the right prior period rather than last month, so a normal seasonal decline does not read as a problem.
Typical source data for Miami clients: AppFolio or Buildium exports, PMS data from hospitality systems, QuickBooks across multiple entities, customs and freight documentation, and bank statements in more than one currency.
An illustrative scenario
A composite example built to show method, not a specific client engagement. No client is identified and no outcome is guaranteed.
Every property manager kept their own file. Consolidation meant a week of reformatting and a lot of chasing.
Rather than force one master file, we build a minimal submission template — nine fields, locked structure — that each manager can fill in ten minutes.
The consolidation layer reads every submission, validates it, and produces a status board showing who has reported and who has not.
FX translation happens in one place with the rate and rate date recorded, so the lender's question about the USD figure has a one-line answer.
Working together across time zones
ET is 9.5 to 10.5 hours behind IST. Calls run 8:00–11:00 ET, and overnight turnaround is the normal pattern.
For a first conversation, the most useful thing to send is how many entities or properties report to you, in which currencies, and how long consolidation takes today. You do not need a requirements document, and if the file is sensitive a screen recording works just as well.
The workbook, or a description of what is slow.
Rate, hours and timeline, usually within a day.
Unlocked files, documentation, recorded walkthrough.
Services
All ten service lines are available in Miami. These four come up most often in this market — hire a consultant, a freelancer or a full delivery team, whichever fits.

Meet the teamQuestions
Answers written for this city, including the ones that might cost us the job.
Ask us something elseOffshore — our team is in India and we have no Florida office. We would rather lead with that than have you discover it later. Remote delivery is why a portfolio consolidation costs what it does with us; if you need someone in Brickell in person, that is a different kind of hire.
Our working language is English, and all documentation and handover material is written in English. Several clients maintain Spanish-language input templates for their own teams while keeping the reporting layer in English — we are happy to build it that way, but we cannot deliver the engagement itself in Spanish.
Explicitly. Pick a rate source, record the rate and the date used in the file, decide whether you are translating at closing or average rate, and document it. Most of the multi-currency workbooks we review get the arithmetic right and the traceability wrong.
Make it much smaller. The templates that get filled in are the ones with under a dozen fields and no optional sections. Then put the complexity in the consolidation layer where you control it, not in the thing you are asking twelve other people to maintain.
Yes. We work from the exports rather than connecting directly, which keeps things simple and avoids needing access to your accounting system.
By job title
The same people do all of this. We keep a separate page per specialism for Miami because the work each one generates here genuinely differs — and because the job title you search under changes what you find.
Local or remote
Hiring locally in Miami buys you some things we cannot offer. It is worth being clear about which.
A local entity, local invoicing, local contract law. For some organisations — public sector especially — that is not negotiable, and no amount of rate advantage changes it.
If a file breaks at 10am and must work by 2pm, somebody in your time zone will usually beat somebody in ours. Our overnight turnaround is an advantage for planned work and a disadvantage for emergencies.
For a workshop, a training session, or a discovery process across several departments, physical presence genuinely helps. We work well over a call, but we will not pretend it is identical.
One local generalist covers whatever they happen to know. A small specialist team covers modelling, VBA, BI and Sheets properly. Which matters more depends entirely on what your file needs.
A local contractor in a major city typically charges several times a remote specialist's hourly rate for output a reviewer could not tell apart. That difference is the whole reason remote delivery exists.
At a consultancy the person who sells the work and the person who writes it are often different people. Here they are the same person, and you have their name.
