Reporting automation
The multi-step monthly assembly reduced to one button, with a log of what it did and when. The most commonly requested Excel automation, and usually the one with the clearest payback.
United States · San Diego · VBA & automation
Automation in a regulated environment has to leave a trail. A macro that silently edits a result is a finding waiting to happen, so routines here log what changed, when and by whom, even when that makes them slower to write.

Why San Diego specifically
Clients for this are typically in Sorrento Valley, Carlsbad, Kearny Mesa and Otay Mesa, across life sciences and biotech, medical devices, defence contracting, craft manufacturing, and cross-border operations with Tijuana. Lab, inventory and compliance reporting that has to hold up to an auditor.
For the wider picture of what we see in this market — the recurring problems, the source systems, how the time difference plays out — the San Diego guide covers it properly rather than repeating it on every service page.

Excel experts in San DiegoScope
Two of the things this covers most often for San Diego clients. The vba & automation page sets out the full scope and method.

Someone left, the macro still runs, nobody dares touch it. We read it, document what it does, fix what is broken and leave you able to change it without us.
Any step that needs judgement stays manual. Automating a decision is how automation projects quietly produce wrong answers for months before anyone notices.
Commented code, a plain-English note on how to run it and what to do when it complains, and a recorded walkthrough. The code is unlocked and yours.

Questions
Answers for this service in this market, including the ones that might cost us the job.
Ask us something elseNot on its own. True 21 CFR Part 11 compliance needs system-level audit trails and access control Excel does not provide. We can harden a workbook substantially — validation, protection, in-file change logging — to support a validated system, and we will tell you plainly which side of that line your use case falls on.
In practice, nothing — they are the same skill under different titles. People tend to say 'macro developer' for a routine that automates steps, and 'Excel programmer' or 'Excel developer' when the result has a user interface and behaves like a small application. We do both, and the title does not change the rate.
Generally no, and this matters. ITAR restricts access by non-US persons, and our team is based in India. We would need you to provide a scrubbed or synthetic dataset, or engage a US-person contractor for that specific work. We would rather flag this at the first conversation than after a contract.
