Reporting automation
The multi-step monthly assembly reduced to one button, with a log of what it did and when. The most commonly requested Excel automation, and usually the one with the clearest payback.
United States · Los Angeles · VBA & automation
Automation here is usually about killing a Monday ritual: four exports, three hours of reformatting, and a channel view that is a day old by the time it is finished. The judgement steps — deciding whether an outlier is an error or a real spike — stay manual on purpose.

A typical job here
Typically 10–18 hours. Unusual cases land outside that, and we say so in the estimate rather than discovering it halfway through.

Why Los Angeles specifically
Clients for this are typically in Downtown LA, Culver City, Burbank and El Segundo, across entertainment production, direct-to-consumer ecommerce, apparel, logistics around the ports, and agency and creative services. Production budgets, campaign spend and DTC margin sheets that update themselves.
For the wider picture of what we see in this market — the recurring problems, the source systems, how the time difference plays out — the Los Angeles guide covers it properly rather than repeating it on every service page.

Unlocked files, documentation, recorded handover.

Two of the things this covers most often for Los Angeles clients. The vba & automation page sets out the full scope and method.

Repeatable transformation of the exports you get rather than the ones you wish you got. Often Power Query is the better tool here and we will say so, because a macro you cannot edit is worse than a query you can.
Any step that needs judgement stays manual. Automating a decision is how automation projects quietly produce wrong answers for months before anyone notices.
Not if. Source file missing, column renamed, someone has the file open. Each case gets a defined behaviour, and the default is always to stop cleanly rather than half-finish.

Questions
Answers for this service in this market, including the ones that might cost us the job.
Ask us something elseThe routine reports which expected fields it could not find and stops, rather than carrying on with a shifted column and producing a plausible wrong number. You get an email, not a silent error.
Often, and sometimes we should. Power Query handles import and transformation better than a macro and is easier for you to maintain. Office Scripts works where Excel on the web matters. VBA remains the right answer for workbook manipulation, user forms and driving other Office applications. We choose on your environment, not our preference.
It can be made much more resilient. We match columns by header name rather than position, add a check that reports which expected fields are missing, and fail visibly instead of quietly returning wrong numbers. Platforms will still change things; the file will just tell you when they have.
