Workbook audit
A structured review: broken references, hard-coded values inside formulas, circular logic, key-person risk, and what would happen if the author left.
United States · New York City · Excel consulting
Most New York consulting engagements start after someone senior has already noticed the problem. A fund administrator queries a number, an auditor flags a workbook, or an analyst resigns and nobody else can run the close. The review is less about finding formula errors than about establishing whether the file can be defended to someone outside the team.

A typical job here
Budget 6–10 hours as a starting point. If what you send turns out larger, you hear about it during scoping rather than at the end.

Why New York City specifically
Clients for this are typically in Midtown, the Financial District, Long Island City and Downtown Brooklyn, across investment and asset management, commercial real estate, media, and professional services firms billing by the hour. Deal models, portfolio packs and month-end consolidations that have to survive review.
For the wider picture of what we see in this market — the recurring problems, the source systems, how the time difference plays out — the New York City guide covers it properly rather than repeating it on every service page.

Unlocked files, documentation, recorded handover.

Excel experts in New York CityScope
Two of the things this covers most often for New York City clients. The excel consulting page sets out the full scope and method.
A structured review: broken references, hard-coded values inside formulas, circular logic, key-person risk, and what would happen if the author left.
Restructuring so assumptions live in one place, calculations are traceable, and a reviewer can verify the output unaided.
Not everything needs fixing. We rank findings by what could actually cause a wrong decision.
Who maintains it, how it updates, and what to check before trusting the output.

Questions
Answers for this service in this market, including the ones that might cost us the job.
Ask us something elseYes. For a first look we often do not need live data at all — a scrubbed copy with the structure intact tells us most of what matters. NDAs are signed before anything is sent, and for New York fund clients that is the normal order of events rather than an exception.
We can substantially harden a workbook — controlled assumptions, protected formulas, failing checks, documented procedure. Whether that satisfies a specific regulatory standard depends on the standard, and anyone promising blanket compliance for a plain Excel file is overselling it.
No, and we say so plainly rather than implying otherwise. We are a remote team and there is no New York office. For the work we do — model rebuilds, automation, dashboards — screen sharing and a shared file are genuinely sufficient, and it is why our rates are lower than a Manhattan consulting firm. If your project requires someone physically in the room, a local contractor is the better answer and we will tell you that.
